Know before usingThis is a general educational reference, not a neutral material ranking, complete fibre encyclopedia, specification, test report, sourcing database, lifecycle assessment, certification, safety procedure, or proof of a product claim. Coverage and citation depth vary by page, and some environmental, care, performance, or end-of-life statements are broad. Fibre name alone does not establish a fabric's construction, blend percentage, finish, quality, behavior, or suitability. Confirm the exact composition, construction, finish, care label, sample behavior, test evidence, certification scope, and project requirements with the responsible supplier, scheme, laboratory, or specialist. This is Woolmark-operated education focused on wool, not a neutral comparison of all fibres or processing systems. A completion badge records coursework, not independent proof of production competence, product performance, environmental impact, or compliance. Confirm technical values and local requirements against current standards before production use.

What the source establishesThe live QUT index says the knowledge base is designed to help users choose an appropriate textile and extend garment use. It links 14 topics: nine named fibre pages, textile blends, re-making, reuse, recycling, and repair. Checked silk, polyester, wool, and blend pages organize information under overview, common fabrics, context of use, care, recycling, and further reading where applicable. QUT identifies TextileR as a research group and publishes named researchers, publications, objectives, and a direct contact. The current Woolmark Learning Centre library publishes free account-based coursework with module counts, completion times, progress tracking, knowledge checks, and supporting resources. Its wool programs cover fibre science, raw-wool and yarn processing, dyeing and finishing, woven textiles, knitwear, product quality, and wastewater management for learners and facilitators.
