Everything you make with cloth and yarn.
Stitch Authority is a reference site for two kinds of work: making things by hand (sewing, fabric, crochet, knitting) and building a clothing line for production (tech packs, grading, sourcing, costing). Both live on one site because they share the same starting point: cloth, and what you can do with it.
Who it's for
The making guides are written for anyone at a sewing machine, a crochet hook, or a set of knitting needles, from a first project to a wardrobe's worth. The production guides are written for people taking a garment from an idea to a factory: designers, small-batch brands, and anyone who needs to read a tech pack or understand a grading chart before they hand it to a manufacturer.
How the guides are made
The making guides are tested and written in-house. The production guides, tech packs, and grading references are written with a working technical apparel designer who also consults directly on tech packs, grading, and sourcing at kellyhouse.studio. Every spec and reference on the production side reflects real production work, not secondhand research.
What you'll find here
Step-by-step guides, a fabric library with the specs that matter for drape and wear, free calculators for cost and grading, and a journal that covers both tracks. New guides and one new tool ship most weeks.
