| Best for | Following a structured classroom introduction to womenswear block development, muslin test fitting, fit correction, and basic flat-pattern manipulation | Documenting how a pattern-based fabric quantity becomes an order length | Learning or identifying crochet stitches |
| Know before using | This is a classroom textbook with particular womenswear exercises, charts, figures, terminology, units, and drafting methods. It is not a universal body, block, grading, or sizing system; current industry certification; or proof of fit for an individual wearer or product. Some content and examples predate the current review. Verify the intended body data, measurement protocol, ease, material, seam and construction rules, accessibility, current curriculum status, and representative sewn fit independently. | The planner adds and rounds user-entered lengths; it does not create a cutting layout, infer shrinkage or matching allowances, compensate for a width change, establish usable width, or prove that the order quantity is sufficient. | A foundational library, not yet an exhaustive stitch encyclopedia. |

| What the source establishes | CBSE's official publication index links the Class XII Fashion Studies textbook. Its Basic Pattern Development chapter covers body and dress-form measurement, size relationships, patternmaking tools and terms, fit and balance, muslin test fitting, block correction, bodice, sleeve and skirt blocks, seam allowances, grain lines, notches, necklines, collars, and dart manipulation. The stated learning outcomes include developing blocks from charts and body measurements, testing fit, correcting the pattern, and developing simple designs from basic blocks. | NIST defines 1 yard as exactly 0.9144 metre. Sewing & Craft Alliance guidance ties an applicable cutting layout to the exact view, size, fabric width, and nap condition and recommends layout work when listed conditions do not fit the project. | The linked tool or guide is maintained inside Stitch Authority and was checked against its current public interface. |
