The reference is not a physical measurement, manufacturer inspection, UK or Canadian conversion, steel-hook chart, tool recommendation, yarn assignment, or project approval. | Patternmaking knowledge, controlled measurement files, production conventions, and sewn fit testing are still required. The lookup reproduces the current public Craft Yarn Council metric and U.S. alias rows, aligns hooks and needles only when their nominal millimetre value matches, and leaves missing rows or aliases unfilled. | The maintained Seamly2D repository identifies the application as GPLv3+ open-source patternmaking software for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It reads multi-size measurement files for standardized sizes and individual measurement files for custom-fit work, publishes downloadable builds and releases, and links an active website and user forum. | Knitty currently publishes web-only editorial issues containing original knitting and crochet patterns and articles. Its legal page states that patterns are free for one person's personal use, identifies each designer or author as the copyright holder, and explains that verified pattern corrections are posted in bright pink on the pattern page. |
