Checking whether a shortlisted European supplier's legal company name and registration number resolve to a current national business-register record
What the source establishes.
The European Commission states that BRIS gathers company information in real time from participating national business registers and supports searches by company or registration number, basic company results, and available filed details or documents.
The linked record system is maintained by the organization responsible for the certificates, approvals, or program records it exposes.
What this record does not prove.
Basic search does not prove that the registered entity owns or operates the facility presented to a buyer, and available fields, documents, prices, and delivery vary by national register; match the legal record to contracts, invoices, bank details, facility evidence, and current contacts.
A reachable official source can verify identity, stated scope, and access. It cannot silently become an audit of workmanship, delivery, labor conditions, or suitability for your project.
A record that can age in public.
New checks are appended rather than replacing earlier states. The latest source review is due by October 13, 2026.
